Ancient Sumerian Gals by GingerOpal Ancient Sumerian Gals by GingerOpal
More historical dresses. :)

And dang, it's hard to find references for the ladies' clothes in some of these ancient cultures.

Hey! They're all realy good, actually, I still using them as reference to my drawnigs. But, I found out, with some researchs that the right one is made of goat skin, like this:
thelosttreasurechest.wordpress…;

I actually, if you don't mind of course, would like to ask you if could draw it goat-skin-like. No doubt you'll make look as pretty as these.

Oh! Just a friendly warning: Don't draw simple mortal women with headresses similar to the ones the female dingir use (the ones with horns), lest you atract their wrath!

Women (even goddesses!) can be quite envious!

the Sumerians really loved birds so their style of clothing kind of looked like bird feathers, their gods are always seen to be wearing wings.

woohoo. I really need a reference for summerian clothing and you had it. woohoo I'm working on a story where dwarves are bassed on sumerian culture and I need a good picture to descibe the clothing. I also found out that before this type of clothing summerians wore sheep skins with the fur on the out side with the fur tuffed into little balls.

Hey!
Can I use the one to the left as a basis for a cosplay idea I have? She's cool and she is the closest I have found to be what I imagine the character to be.Pretty Please?

Wow, these are really good. I recognized them as Sumerian, I think it was because I have a book about ancient civilizations and they had illustrations of what they wore. Very nice drawing.

Indeed it is hard to find references, but i think you did a wonderful job.
You probably have noticed in the references the woman wear an extrange hat or barrete, i've been trying to figure it out for some time.
By the way, dam!, your gallery rocks! Love your drawings
Cheers and good luck

I fixed the pictures in the blog. They should work now.

I wish I had a comic up, but I don't. All I have is old stuff I'm too embarassed to show anyone. That's why I'm working on the Astilbe project, so I have something nice. :)

I have the same problem. No matter how much i work on my comics, i'm never satisfied with myself to show them. Astilbe looks very promissing.

Well, the ancient Nubians will be pretty easy, since their dress is pretty much the same as the Egyptians--just different headdresses, wigs, and jewelry. :)

The Hebrews might be a little more challenging to find references for, though...

*nods* I've had a hard time finding any refs for Hebrews, period (costume or otherwise), which is a pain, since one of my favorite OCs was born in a Hebrew community in ancient Egypt (immortal kind of thing...kinda complicated)....
But seriously....I lovelovelovelovelove all the ancient drawings you're doing...they are -amazing-
