Some more backstage drawings. I’ll be running out soon, because the show ends this week and I’LL HAVE A LIFE AGAIN!!! Usually I enjoy being in musicals sooooooo much, but this show hasn’t been as fun as the last few I’ve been in. Unlike the other shows, I’ll be glad when this one is over. I’ll just miss my stage friends.
ANYWAY, back to my more visual form of art, I drew these original characters while listening to songs that more or less represent them. These particular characters are members of my unofficial Awesome Minor Characters Club.
Anemon and Nemony: The Aquarium by Camille Saint-Saens [link] Begonia and Bostin: Double Trouble by John Williams/Shakespeare [link] Empress Foxglove: Dangerous by Roxette [link] King Arktikah: Winter (allegro) by Vivaldi [link] King Akrostikoydes: Uninvited by Alanis Morisette I didn’t draw him angry for once! Princess Nardanya: Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind by John Rutter/Shakespeare (Sorry, I couldn’t find an arrangement of it online worthy of the one my HS choir did in the SLC Tabernacle with a professional live orchestra. I’d post it on my You-Tube account if I knew how, but I’m just a loser like that. Pretty, pretty song. )
Okay, so just as a random note, I’ve done my best to keep the fantasy names in my story readable. I patterned each name to sound unique to its character’s culture, but did my best not to make them sound alike. Arktikah and Akrostikoydes are the ONLY names I get mixed up, because they share the same subplot together. That’s called bad planning. Just remember that Arktikah is a play off of “Antarctica”, which is icy, and he’s an icy ice king, so yeah.
Yes. I was paying attention during my training class! I was! For instance, did you know that any excavation deeper than 4 feet is required by law to employ protections against cave-in? I BET YOU DIDN'T.
Pretty! I like EVERYTHING you do (okay... not in a stalker-ish sense, of course. your drawings are pretty!) I actually got around to drawing something. I'll have to post it.
This was posted sooo long ago, but I was on a couple of shows myself!Soooo:
I love Arktikah's clothing, the design is really nifty, and his funky hair makes me giggle. x3 Very awesome and crystally~ Princess Nardanya just looks gorgeously elegant, and I love how she doesn't have the stereotypical tiny nose and she still looks beautiful. Begonia and Bostin....I envy your ability to make beautiful curly hair, and Empress Foxglove has awesome hair to go with her epically awesome hat. :3
And...CREW FTW! <3 The stage has become more of my territory over the years. What show did you do?
I like breaking the stereotype rules. I hate stories where all the women have exactly the same little button nose because it's just a shortcut to making a woman look automatically feminine. Something I appreciate about ancient Greek and Roman art is that most of their women have average-to-large noses and they still look so elegant and lovely. (Even Cleopatra didn't have a tiny nose.)
I always mess around with the noses with my characters but I can never make them work with their faces. Now that I haven't been drawing as much as usual I haven't even thought of it. xD
I love Arktikah's dreds. Also Akrostikoydes' design in general. He is pretty cool, not gonna lie. Also creepy. Poor long-suffering Nardanya..........
Do you ever work while you're at work?

But yes, I appreciate your nose diversity.
