Meant to post this a while ago, but I got distracted by the smell of money and so I've been working all December and, well, that explains why there has been no art or snippets or..well...me.

The old picture was more of an experiment than anything. I was still getting used to photoshop, and at the time I didn't even have a decent scanner. I liked it enough to want to spruce it up, however, and I finally got the chance to do so. I don't like the women as much in the newer one. I had to draw them in a hurry, and also had to draw them the way my illustration class wanted me to, since it was an assignment. Maybe this will be up for a 3rd repaint...

Especially at depth and lighting. And at coloring and anatomy. Basically everything. XD

There both so pretty! The first lacks depth and you really pull that off nicely in the second. The characters are a bit cleaner in the first which would make them look prettier than the second. The first one might be mistaken for a colored illustration out of an Andrew Lang fairy book, but the second really shows your individual style beautifully.
I love how eager you are for criticism! My personal motto is that I can always do better, I really respect that. :)

nice!:clap: I think you've really improved! There is some element missing from the new one that was in the old one. But the details really make the new one pop! It would be cool to see a redo again in a few years!

I'll try!
I think that the first one really focused on the glow and light of the bubbles, it seemed to be the main focal point, and the environment reflected a lot more of the light. In the second one the light and bubbles are smaller and more contained. Although I like the shape of the bubbles much better in the second one.
And I think the mermaids/sea ladies seemed more curious/in awe in the first one, they're reacting to their environment.
In the second picture they seem to know exactly what the bubble/light stuff is, there's no awe or curiosity, they're just playing. That's not a bad thing- it just changes the mood.
