Description

Something I've been working on because I need a chart to help me keep my drawings consistent. I was so excited to post this last month, and then my old computer passed out and kept me from doing much of anything for a while. No information was lost, I just didn't have any access to it. I now have a new computer and everything from my back-up hard drive--which this file (and Lars' sketchdump, which will be posted soon) was too new to be on. I had to wait for the parts to resuscitate my old computer to come in the mail so I could transport these files to my new one. I am now a much happier artist. :D

I was going to post this after it was colored and everything, but I was sooooo happy that the line-art was finished and it was so time-consuming getting the line up right that I thought I ought to show you guys I AM working on something and it IS making progress.

Also, I know the smaller creatures are hard to see. I'll make a zoomed-in chart for your viewing later on. I'll let you guys download this to get a better look, but it's still not as zoomed-in as it needs to be for details on those little guys. :)

*ABOUT GIID*

Giid is the world in which many of my stories take place, including Realms and Remedies (which can be found here. gingeropal.deviantart.com/gall… Not all of these species are presented in this story. Fescu is grateful for this for reasons. Although it would be funny to sic some Imps and Pixies on Fescu, alas, it wouldn't fit into the story very well. :XD: )

This line-up is tallest to smallest, obviously, regardless of powers or habitation (Mr. Merman looks confused as to why he's the only one in the line up who's under water.) I chose all males because with all humanoids the females are regularly a bit smaller than the male. The heights represented here are the average size of each species. Some have more extreme exceptions than others, especially both varieties of Goblins. Giants, Trolls, and other creatures like them were not included because they eat other humanoids, which puts them in the "monster" category. Goblins and Mountain Gnomes barely made it into this line-up because they occasionally take a nibble out of other humanoid species, but that behavior isn't nearly as common as they claim.

For those who are curious I'll list what brand of magic each creature fits into and a tidbit of info.

NON-MAGIC
Krystalians -indigenous only to Krystalia, the Ice Realm. Generally friendly and gladly interact with other species when given the rare chance.
Merpeople -indigenous only to Aqualegia, the Water Realm. The only humanoids with no legs. Very congenial. Not at all shy.
Humans -the most numerous and versatile of the non-magic humanoids.
Nocturnians -indigenous only to Nocturnia, the subterranean Realm of Darkness. Secretive and generally unkind.
Dwarves -indigenous to Nocturnia, but can easily live elsewhere. Artistic and crafty. Often act gruff but are well-meaning.
Large Goblins -live anywhere that's dark. Menacing, conniving, and cruel.
Barbegazi -friendly and artistic Snow Dwarves. Indigenous only to Krystalia and frozen parts of Ignisia (ice caves).
Mountain Gnomes - treasure hoarders. Famous for their meanness. Don't always live in the mountains, as long as there are plenty of places to hide.
Garden Gnomes -extremely shy and peace-loving. Live in pretty forests and gardens.
Gremlins -extremely curious and inventive. Attracted to machinery. Potential for great destruction, even with good intentions.

NATURAL MAGIC
Virii -have the best relationship with Nature. Generally stay secluded in higher altitudes because they know it's safer to mind their own business. Their powers are coveted by other species.
Ondrings -exclusively indigenous to the dreaded Ondrian Forest. Friendly and helpful. Their magic becomes limited outside of Ondria.

FAERIE MAGIC
Ignisians -indigenous only to Ignisia, the Fire Realm. Usually carefree and think little of others.
Nereids -indigenous only to Aqualegia. Shy and generally untrusting of other species.
Elves -prefer to live in forests. Can be helpful to other species, but hard to trust because of their bad habit of stealing babies to raise as their own.
Angels -indigenous to Auroria, the Sky Realm, but can fly wherever they please. Extremely innocent and joyful. Land creatures find the Angel's wide-eyed curiosity funny and/or annoying.
Imps -live wherever there are places to hide, even on the plains. Conflicted creatures who mean to have good intentions but usually make bad choices.
Smaller Goblins -dwell in dark and barren places. Moody, intimidating, and can be aggressive. Much more proud and powerful than they look.
Nixies -indigenous to anywhere there's water. Prefers creeks in forests. Laid-back and often mischievous. Powers only work on water.
Sprites -indigenous to anywhere there's land. Prefers forests. Extremely mischievous sense of humor. Usually untrustworthy, even to each other. Powers only work on dry land.
Fairies -prefer forests. Easy-going and mostly kind. Most change color with their emotions, which they usually feel only one at a time.
Pixies -generally bad-tempered. Prefers forests, but will brazenly travel wherever they want. The only humanoid with a pair of antennae. All but Goblins treat Pixies with caution.

I'll explain the creatures in more detail in the final line up somehow. I'm not sure how I'm going to chart the information. But here I'll point out a few facts I get asked about the most concerning the species in Realms and Remedies. Fescu and Darnda are Virii, not Elves. I'll explain Virii better in a future post. Lars is obviously a Human, but so is Loknich, whom some fans mistake for an Elf. Elves in my story are actually of the folksy children-stealing variety, not the Tolkien Elves that are so prevalent in high fantasy stories and games. One of their powers is to change size, so that's why Elves are presented in this line-up twice. One more fact: the Angels in this line-up are not heavenly creatures in the religious sense. Angels are pretty much overlarge fairies with bird-wings instead of bug-wings that live on clouds. Yup. There are probably more facts I often have to explain but they're not coming to me at the moment.
