I can't wait to see more
In a lot of comics I've read (and I read A LOT of comics) the "person's thoughts while alone" problem is handled with a hybrid of thought bubble and narrator that I think works well. The thoughts are written in the same format as captions boxes, but the character is the one speaking. A good example is the (extremely famous) graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. It looks nice and doesn't clash with the action.
I fully agree with you, though. Of course, I speak as one whose skill with words FAAAAAAAR outweighs her skill with lines and shapes, but long conversations look silly in a comic, and sometimes the poetry of prose can convey emotions and ideas an image never could. Also if your characters ever speak in huge blocks of texts, those will look fine in a book, but ridiculous and boring in a comic.
Yup.
she should have a beard. HURR HURR okay I'll shut up now.
